Welcome to Equilibrium
Equilibrium (EQ) is headquartered in Bulgaria. We work with children and young adults branded as misfits so as to promote their individual capabilities.

EQ specializes in working with unfortunate children that most adults find difficult to handle. Many are educationally and socially disadvantaged because of early life experience that may have included domestic abuse, separation from parents, institutionalization, bereavement, prolonged deprivation or an especially traumatic event.
We provide mentoring. This helps children become self-aware and resilient – capable of understanding that some experiences are negative or unhappy, not life, not existence.
We provide educational rehabilitation. This enables children to maximize their potential within a formal schooling system to which they are not well attuned.
Our techniques are pioneering.
EQ is a member of The National Network for Children /NNC/, a Bulgarian non-profit network of leading NGOs, working with children and families. NNC was created in 2003 as a non-formal alliance of NPOs. In 2006 it was oficially registered as a public non-profit organization. Since 2007 the Network has been responsible for the local implementation of international program PROCOPIL, focused on prevention of child abuse, co-financed by the Foreign Ministry of France. Since the summer of 2009 the NNC has been working on the “I Have Rights” project for better child rights protection in Bulgaria, financed by OAK Foundationa and Unicef.
'It is important that students bring a certain ragamuffin, barefoot irreverence to their studies; they are not here to worship what is known, but to question it.'
-- J. Bronowski
We participate actively in the process of deinstitutionalization of the care for children in Bulgaria. In 2010 together with our partners from the British Organization 'Hope and Homes for Children' we closed the first institution for children from 0 to 3 years-of-age in the town of Teteven.
